Hi,
I’m the son in law of a 1976 Cal 2-34 owner and the owner is no longer able to manage his affairs. So, I’m the new manager of his boat.
I’m trying to figure out what to do with this boat currently located in Pensacola, FL. I’ve been told by the marina’s owner that the boat is worth $3-$4K max today and that’s mostly because it has a working motor. Someone starts the motor every month or so and the motor has been recently maintained: new water pump I believe. My goal is to get rid of the boat entirely, as fast as possible. I’m not looking for payment; rather I’m willing to pay for help and advice to get this dealt with.
The boat has some hull damage due to hurricane Michael when it was in Panama City FL. The owner applied some patches but ran out of time and left the job unfinished.
There are also two storage units containing only sailing equipment: sails, anchors, etc. One unit is in Panama City, FL and one unit is in Pensacola, FL. I am going on pretty unreliable info regarding what’s in the storage units; I haven’t been in in either of them…I live in CO and am unable to go to FL to check it all out.
We have the title for the boat and we are working on getting power of attorney documentation filed with the storage unit companies so someone can get in there and take a look.
Any help (or contact info of someone who can help) is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Todd
