Looking for pricing on getting a new jib. I want to switch to a rolling furler on my Cal 34-III. Anyone have ideas?

Hogan Sails, Alameda. High quality, local company and very good service. Ask for Steve McCarthy. He is the owner and was a Cal owner; Cal 36.

Thanks, Mike! I called him. He was very friendly and helpful. His shop is close to my marina. Waiting on a quote.

Hi Mary. I have a Cal 34 Mk1 and am a sailmaker working for a large brand. I also have more than enough headsails that fit my roller furler. Let me know what size you are looking for and maybe I can part with one.

Thank you. I am thinking 130-150. I’m bringing my boat to SoCal next summer, but now I’m in the SF Bay. Randy, what do you use down here?

Hi Mary, We have a 165. Not proper for racing but the 2-29 carries it well. We have roller reefing for the jib so we can bring it down to the appropriate size easily.

We sail out of San Diego. Just local stuff & out to Catalina a few times a year. We have 4 headsails:
108% Jib (high enough clew to reach the jib tracks and sheet nicely in front of the spreaders and over the lifelines), this is our go-to sail. Handling is really easy being a bit smaller which is nice for daysailing in San Diego Bay or when we need to tack a bit upwind. It is cut a little on the deep side to be OK in light winds and built from a higher tech construction so it doesn't get too deep when the wind comes up.
129% Yankee. This is the original sail that came with the boat. Similar in concept to the 108%, but not as refined at everything. It sits in the garage indefinitely.
134% Radial Laminate Cruising Genoa. If we were only sailing from Long Beach/ LA back and forth to Catalina, this would probably be my sail of choice. Good size and power, nice balance especially reaching and able to be furled smaller when needed.
142% Racing Genoa. Too big for us. If you were trying to race the boat with a crew, it would be fine. Still fits on the furler to make it easy and I even have a very lightweight suncover on it so we could use it if we went long range and brought multiple sails (Mexico)
